UPDATE ON BOOKING SLOTS
Suppliers are no longer required to book a delivery time slot to drop off their scrap metal. We are open weekdays 8am to 5pm and currently closed on a Saturday until further notice. Please remember to bring your photo driving licence and visa debit bank card with you. All other site safe working procedures remain the same.

REOPENING MONDAY 18TH MAY WITH NEW SITE SAFE WORKING PROCEDURES
On Friday 27th March, as a result of the coronavirus crisis, we took the difficult decision to temporarily close the business for all non-essential scrap deliveries and collections, and only opening up on a pre-booked basis to service critical businesses that remained open during the lockdown. We took this decision to protect and safeguard our employees, customers and suppliers.

We are pleased to say that after restructuring and implementing a range of new control measures and safety protocols, that we will be reopening for business on Monday 18th May for all businesses and the general public. In line with current UK Government advice, and in order to maintain social distancing, all deliveries of scrap metal will now follow a new set of site safety procedures.

As a temporary measure, in order to limit the total number of vehicles on site at any one time and to maintain social distancing, we are advising all suppliers to pre-book a delivery slot prior to arrival. You will need to phone the Weighbridge office on 01983 292611 to make an appointment. You will be allocated a two hour slot between 8am and 5pm to make your delivery (there will be no bookings between 12pm-1pm to allow for lunch). Anyone arriving without a booking will be asked to remain in their vehicle and wait until a slot becomes available. Priority will always be given to those vehicles booked within that time slot. If there are already more than two un-booked vehicles waiting on site, then you may be asked to come back at a later time.

As we reopen with reduced staff, and with the extra measures in place, it will take a bit longer to turn around vehicles than usual. As we have a large number of suppliers waiting for us to reopen, we will need to temporarily restrict all suppliers to a maximum of two deliveries a day for the first week of reopening.

New site safety procedures:

1. Suppliers are advised to pre-book a time slot for delivery by phoning the Weighbridge office on 01983 292611 (or email info@cliftongrade.co.uk).

2. Upon arrival, only the driver may leave the vehicle and come into the Weighbridge office reception.

3. Only one person is allowed in the Weighbridge office reception at any one time. All other persons will need to form an orderly queue whilst maintaining social distancing of no less than two metres apart.

4. A Perspex screen has now been erected between the Weighbridge office window and the reception.

5. All drivers will need to show their valid photo driving licences at the reception window, so that a digital photo can be taken. We will no longer be manually handling your ID.

6. Preferred method of payment for non- account suppliers is via a reverse payment (refund) on to a visa debit card. This method does not require our staff members handling your debit card nor does it require the customer touching the pin pad. A PIN number is not required when processing a reverse payment (refund).

7. Any other person in the vehicle will be allowed to assist in unloading but must then return immediately to the vehicle once unloading has been completed, and remain in that vehicle until it has left the site.

8. No members of staff will be able to assist in the manual unloading of vehicles. However, there will be forklift or crane assistance available if needed, provided social distancing can be maintained between customers and staff.

9. Vehicles bringing in non-ferrous metal to the non-ferrous shed will need to reverse up to the line of bollards and deposit their metal, then step back to allow a staff member to weigh the material. The weighing scales indicator has been relocated so that it is visible without entering the non-ferrous shed.

10. Social distancing must be observed at all times between staff, customers and suppliers.

11. Increased cleansing with disinfectant of door handles and public areas deemed high risk.

12. We all have to work together to combat the spread of the virus, so please DO NOT visit our site if you have a high temperature or continuous cough, please follow the advice set out by the government and stay at home.

13. The wearing of gloves and face coverings is advised but not compulsory.

14. Customers will not be permitted to use staff toilets or washroom facilities.

15. All offices and buildings (with the exception of the Weighbridge reception area) will remain out of bounds for all members of the public.

16. Our new opening hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. We will temporarily remain closed on Saturdays until things improve.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and support through these unprecedented times and we look forward to returning to a near normal soon.

27th March 2020
TEMPORARY CLOSURE
Due to the coronavirus outbreak and the collapse of global metal markets, both ferrous and non-ferrous, we have decided to close the yard until further notice. We will close the gates on the 27th March 2020 at 5pm. This is a temporary measure, to safeguard employees, customers and suppliers and is necessary due to the coronavirus impact on our industry. Please refer back to the website for updates.

New Lefort Conkeror 700 Shear
We are glad to announce the arrival of our new Lefort Conkeror 700 Scrap Shear and Baler. The final commissioning is complete and the new machine is now busy at work munching its way through the backlog of scrap metal that has built up during the course of replacing our old Lefort 600 Shear with this new and much larger Lefort 700.

With a gross machine weight of 74 tonne, it was too heavy to bring to the Island on any of the ferry routes. Instead it was transported by road from Belgium to Southampton, where it was craned onto a barge and floated across the Solent to East Cowes where it was craned off and then transported by lorry to our site at Cowes. Thanks go out to Island Crane Services and Williams Shipping for their assistance.

Compared with our previous '600' model, the new Lefort 700 Conkeror has a much longer and wider bed, an extra 100 tonne cutting force on the shear blade and an extra 85 tonne more force on each of the side compression cylinders. This latest machine is now Cliftongrade's sixth machine purchase from Lefort, a world renowned name in scrap metal processing equipment.
